After a long journey to chiang mai from bangkok with a very comfortable 1st class sleeper carriage, despite the friendly lady who tried to sell us beer every hour we arrived to be mobbed by a fleet of taxis and people trying to take us to their guest houses. We followed our bible otherwise known as the lonely planet and found ourselves at a lovely little spot called jonadda guesthouse. Off of the main drinking strip it was a great find owned by a thai and aussie couple its a safe haven any traveller going to chiang mai. Very comfortable suroundings for a cheap price and very helpful hosts who have helped us with signing up with a 2 day 1 night trek through the northern jungles/tribes of northern thailand. We would strongly suggest this place to any traveller or holiday-maker to chiang mai. It has relaxing surroundings and a major relief from bangkok!
Spent the day exploring chiang mai, in heat that was never exposed in bangkok!!! Sheltered in a bar for a few hours now semi drunk on the thai lager aka chang! We are going to go back to the lovely jonadda have a shower - discover the night market, eat and have a few more drinks (its very cheap here 3.00 GBP per night to stay) and retire early for our trek through the hills tomorrow -to experience white water rafting, bamboo rafting speniding the night with tribes and elephant rides...oh what awaits us!!!
tune in soon for more adventures and tales of the hill tribes!!
