We've had a busy last few days. Actually, thats a bit of a lie! I should say, we've been busy snorkeling.
On Friday, we snorkeled off the east coast of Gili T and were surprised at how clear the water was. Tyler had rented a mask with camera attached, and he took lots of pictures, most turned out really well because the water was so clear.
We saw thousands of fish, all sorts of variety. The highlight of the day was seeing 4 sea turtles! They were so peaceful and just drifted around. It was hard to tell the size though, because they were so deep.
Saturday, we took the boat over to Gili Meno, the smallest island, for the day. It's hard to believe, but the water was even clearer and there were even more fish! The coral reefs were even better! In the afternoon, we walked to the west side of the island to Turtle Point, where Margaret saw one turtle, and Tyler saw turtles and even an octopus that two Indonesians were hunting for dinner for a local restaurant. Unfortunately, Kenny didn't see anything large, but he did see lots of fish.
Our original plan was to become scuba certified, but after looking at our budget, we decided to save it for another time. We were able to see tons just by snorkeling, so we're feeling satisified.
We are spending the next two nights on Gili Air, and we'll probably go snorkeling tomorrow. Today, we're resting our sore, red skin by staying out of the sun, and instead sipping some coconut shakes while looking out from under a tiki hut on the beach. Life's pretty darn good right now :)
PS- Thanks for the underwater pictures, Tyler!
