Hello everyone,
How are you all? What you been up to? Sorry about the length of my last blog but didn't go on the internet for ages! Well.....
Arrived in Cairns to beautiful hot weather... dumped our ton of baggage in the new hostel, it was more like a hotel; and then went into the city
to have a look around... a nice lagoon by the beach and loads of bars, felt a bit like Spain. Chilled out for the day and then went on a bar crawl
called the frog 'n' toad... was like being on a typical Magaluf bar crawl, even with the seedy games... got us drunk for hardly anything though,
so we were happy... oh and in our drunken state we booked a deal with AJ Hackett to buy 1 bungy jump and get another 1 free....
woke up the next morning after only having a few hours of sleep, thinking why have I booked 2 bungy jumps.... and went to the Great Barrier
Reef... literally everyone apart from me got sea sick on the boat... was funny to see all the little brown bags coming out! Then we scuba dived
on the reef and then snorkelled on it.... saw loads of fish and coral... that night we just got in and relaxed... too tired to even move... Friday we
spent the day looking for a new camera, as someone broke our screen... annoying... and then Saturday was the day to do our 2 bungy jumps!
Arrived at the jump site.... to a 175ft bungy... got booked on our jump and then me and Jade did a tandem jump off it.... side by side.... head
first and up to our waist in the river.... was quality.... 5 mins later we were back up there doing our single jumps... Jade jumped off head
first and then I got the man to hold me out leaning backwards and told him to not let me know when he was gonna let go... he said lean out...
and then as the rope was going tighter he said 'only joking' and let go.... head first backwards into the river! Would definitely do it again!
That night me and Jade went out for a night out, found a good little club in the city... Sunday was a day of rest and Monday was a day of
sorting washing, a new camera and food for Cape Tribulation....
Arrived in Cape tribulation after going up the Daintree river... saw a few crocodiles on the river.... and then got into our accommodation in the
cape... was a bit like Fiji- huts in the rainforest... nice pool and right on the beach so can't be bad.... chilled out for that afternoon and played
Monopoly in the evening... had a nice rat run around our feet.... next day me and Jade decided to go for a 9km walk to a swimming hole...
went on the search for more crocs but didnt find any.... saw some lovely beaches on the way though.... headed back to the beach house and
chilled out around the pool and beach.... altogether spent 3 nights here.... absolutely nothing to do apart from relax on the white sand... and
play Monopoly!
Next stop Port Douglas.... well, we arrived in Port Douglas to a really nice hostel... well run and a nice room/kitchen/bar.... probably one of the nicest
hostels we've ever been in. Chilled out the first night and then the next day me and Jade hired bikes and rode around the whole town and
up to a lookout, was hard work in the heat but better than walking! Went to see if we could ponse some free drink from a festival, but they
were having none of it! Pretty much spent our time in Port Douglas relaxing and sorting our stuff out for flying to Darwin...
Flew to Darwin and arrived in the blistering heat... in the airport shuttle bus we had a look at the city... its an absolute s*** hole.... wondering
why we've come here... 100% humidity and 34 degrees day and nite.... so the first thing we did was sort out our trip for the rest of Australia....
flying to Perth on Sunday and picking a campervan up on the Tuesday....
that's about all i've got to report on at the moment, wasn't long since my last blog... thought i'd make it short to save the boredom!
Keep in touch,
Love Marcus x
