Well, we left Sydney at 7am... after one hell of a mission with all our luggage and managed to get on
our bus! 6 hours later we had arrived at our destination in Port Maquarie... dumped our bags, hired 3
bikes (2 of the bikes were broke, which meant that I had to give Jade a painful seatee down the road to
a koala hospital... reminded me of the days of St Agnes Gardens and falling backwards off a mate's bike
into freshly laid tar... ruined my favourite Fila jacket Anyways, first time we've seen a Koala... it was a bit like being in an STI clinic...
just without the orange hair slags with prams and tatoos of swallows on breasts... every Koala had Chlamydia and was in
a bit of trouble... After the hospital it was off for a bit of fishing, where with Katie's first cast (after me and nick had been trying for ages)
caught a nice-sized yellowfin bream! foul hooked through the head... haven't heard the last of it...
Next day, we had to get up early as we had to check out... went for a long walk along the beach and
watched a surfing competition... then it was back through the town to catch the bus up to Coffs Harbour....
Arrived in Coffs to a surprisingly nice hostel, was a hotel that had been converted, absolutely no-one
there apart from a couple of degenerates that lived there... roots down to her shoulders... reminded
me of those bints you always find in great pubs such as the royal, the crown and other suchlikes. the hostel
was that nice that it had a used condom under the bed... mmmmm! Spent that evening hunting down a $10
meal and beer and chilled out for the evening. Didn't really do too much here but just beach, sunbathed and relaxed
and then moved to the YHA hostel for an evening of DVDs... not much to do here.... was looking forward
to Byron Bay....
Arrived in Byron Bay, after a 5 hour coach journey... and got taken to our hostel... lovely little hostel, full of quality people...
hired some real dodgy bikes where you had to peddle backwards to stop... and if you turned the wheel it
went into your foot.... no expense spared there! Anyways, rode up to find the lighthouse.. which we didn't find and went down to the
beach. That nite we all went out for a $5 main meal... love it... went out clubbing in a Jumping Jacks
style place and then back home- shattered... was just like being at home, without the threat of being stabbed with a screwdriver....
Following day we went down the beach to sunbathe and bodyboard all day (weather is getting better)... spent the whole afternoon trying to find
Nick a birthday present... 700 massage parlour's later we finally got home- with no massage booked! had a bbq and got completely pissed
and had a top night out with friends... suffered the next day though... Nick's birthday so we had a chocolate hunt and
hired a car for the day, went out
bodyboarding to lennox head... weren't the best weather... was a bit like Sheerness weather, without
the smell of urine in the air.... managed not to pass out in the middle of the ocean, which was a plus.... anyways, spent that night relaxing
with a DVD for the night, absolutely shattered from the last 2 nights... been quality so far....
Woke up to the windiest day known to man... went down to the beach with my bodyboard and pretty much
nearly flew over to New Zealand... can't win with the weather here.... beautiful skies but sand in your
teeth! Ended up falling asleep in a park and sunbathed.... Katie had a great idea in the evening...
'let's go out for a $2 meal'.... got all ready and went down there... wrong day and shut.... brilliant! ha...
ended up getting a kebab and coming home... packed and got ready for Nimbin and the cookies!
Well, all was going well until we met Fred our tour guide... he told us that he's lost his licence and
therefore he's booked us onto another tour... happy days... anyways, got to Nimbin... dropped our
ton of luggage off and then went into town... quite possibly the weirdest people i've ever seen....
old people with dredd's everywhere... just a pure pot smoking town....
it's pretty much impossible to walk down the street without having people ask you if you want any weed... Went back to the hostel, had a
and just chilled for that night... there wasn't too much to do in Nimbin, unless you love weed... tried fishing instead.... lost the trace within
10 minutes on a tree... work that one out! Off to Surfer's Paradise....
Well, first day in surfers and the weather has improved! woop woop! spent the whole day by the pool
and then chilled out... was nice to do b***** all! Next day it just didnt stop raining! Pretty much
wasted the day, but went round a friend's from the island (Amie king) for the evening... few beers and a couple
of pizzas later... good lil night.... Wasted the next day sitting in pancakes in paradise... booked
our theme park and water park tickets.... spent all day saturday scaring the s*** outta myself on the
rides... and then sunday was a beautiful day... really hot and spent the whole day in the water park!
Top weekend... just left Monday to bodyboard all day and then get packed up for leaving for Brisbane...
Arrived in our 22 bed dorm... was like being on bootcamp! s*** everywhere! Wasted no time and went for
a wander around the city.... ended up getting back late... and had the worst night sleep ever!
Some weird fella decided to leave the light on until the early hours of the morning, then about 4 pissed
girls came in at about 4am.... i love dorms! Woke up next day at 7am to go to australia zoo....
was quality... full of every single animal you can think of.... sat on a train for about 2 and half hours... felt like 10 hours, and then forced
ourselves to go out for a piss up with a lad we met in Fiji.... got in at 4:30am and had to leave the hostel to catch the greyhound bus to Noosa
for 6:20am... felt like i could've slept for a week! Was a good night out though!
Arrived in Noosa... and waited around on a patch of grass for about 3 hours waiting for our
tour group to pick us up... seriously hung over and feeling the effects of the night before were kicking
in... just wanted to curl up and die! The bus arrived.... got taken to get food and drink for the next
3 days, as we were about to go on a 4 day 3 night canoeing safari.... didnt know what to expect...
arrived in what only can be described as a pikey campsite with people who were pretty much living
in a tent.... no flushing toilets or hot showers and in the middle of a forest! We got told that for the
first night we would get a 'dorm'... well, considering we're in the middle of the bush, where all the spiders
and snakes are, they put us in a army style tent with a door wide open.... no protection at all from wildlife
and pretty much sleeping outside in a sleeping bag.... was a shock at first but turned it into a laugh....
the bush camp was quality though... the pictures show the facilities..... met our group we were going to be
camping with and slept for the night (or tried to).... woke up next morning... which was an achievement in itself, as I felt sure the most
venmous snake was going to hunt me down.... and canoed for 5km (bloody hard work!),
stopped and walked for 2km to the beach... spent the day having a laugh with our group and headed back to the
canoes for a complete nightmare of a row back! The wind had picked up, the tide was against us and there was
hardly any water in the lake..... we were zig-zagging and going backwards for the first 45 mins.... me and
jade thought f*** this and got out in the middle of the lake and walked it over a sandbank! and then carried on
down the river.... was absolutely shattered by the time we got home.... but the group made it a laugh!
Spent that night recovering and getting ready for our own camping trip the next day.... slept in the tent this night
and woke up feeling like I'd been in a car crash! Got all our stuff ready and left with the group down the
river the other way and rowed for 7km.... picking up a 12kg cat fish from the water... caught it with my bare
hands.... or it was just floating in the river next to me..... anyways... tried using that for bait when we
landed at our destination... fully rotten though, so was about as much use as a chocolate tea pot! should've seen
the four of us trying to put up a tent with no guidance... was like giving a monkey a laptop.... it went up alright
in the end.... then we headed for the pub where somehow we all met a huge hen party and one woman (the hen)
squirted breast milk into our friend's mouth.... was f***ing hilarious! Got back to the camp... got on the goon
and the beers and had a laugh around our gas cooker which we used as our camp fire.... throwing a packet of crisps
or two on it made it into a fire! Woke up the next day and canoed all the way back to base and got ready to go
to Hervey bay and doing Fraser Island!!! All in all though, Morgan and Ken who we did Noosa with us made it quality....
Arrived in Hervey Bay feeling like we hadn't slept for a week... although as soon as we got picked up and got f***ed
over with all the extra money we had to pay, we were straight into a meeting... a couple of dvds and a dickhead of a
bloke chatting about fraser island we were ready to get our stuff for the morning... early wake up... 6am, got our
4x4's and our camping gear and we were on the way to the fraser island.... 7 of us in our jeep... tom, ollie, steve, nick
katie, jade and myself! The lads we met in Noosa before, so we were guaranteed a laugh... another group of 6 followed
behind us.... 30 mins on the ferry and we were soon driving across the sand and into the rainforests.... nearly rolled
it within 15 mins when a car came the other way.... took off over Eli creek... which was a huge drop
into a creek and back out (about a 5ft drop)... Ollie pretty much launched us through it... stopped at a few nice places on the way, got stuck
and dug out 3 times... then set up camp in an aboriginal campsite.... not only was it slightly dodgy being an aboriginal campsite, we had the
pleasure of a group of drug and drink rehabilitation people camping directly opposite us....anyways, us lads collected the firewood and the
girls got on with the cooking.... spent the whole night (the 13 of us) playing drinking games and having a laugh around the camp fire... nick and
Billy walked across the fire at the end of the night and suffered with blisters at the end of the night! Had a top night though!
Woke up and made breaky then it was off to Indian head to look for whales, turtles, sharks and dolphins... saw them all and then
walked to Champagne Pools where we all jumped in and then all 13 of us fell asleep for the afternoon on the beach... all woke
up not knowing where we was! Headed back... Nick fell off the chair, taking all the plates, cups and bowls down with him... couldn't
stop laughing! Camped up for the night, doing the same as the night before.... drinking games and having a laugh! Was a killer the
next morning though, we had to pack up all the tents and move on before the tide came in.... 6am!... Made our way to lake McKenzie, where
we all fell asleep in the 4x4 for an hour or two but then had a laugh in the water.... then it was back to the mainland for a
good night's sleep... was going to relax for a couple of days but the Whitsunday boat we're going on was fully booked for Sunday and
Wednesday... so it means straight onto a 13 hour coach journey to Airlie Beach! Been the best week of our travelling so far though! Met some
top people!
Arrived in Airlie beach after an absolute killer of a bus journey! Could not find a comfy position! Checked our luggage in at
the hostel and then checked in for our Whitsunday boat... stocked up with a ton of beer and goon and we were soon on our way...
we got a free upgrade to a double room... so was well happy... quite cramped in the bunk beds everywhere else, so had a bit of a
result.... met some more people on the boat... got on the goon and ready for a day of snorkelling and sunbathing.... went over
to Whitehaven beach- quite possibly the best beach in the world... have a look at the photos.... did some good snorkelling
with stinger suits on and then had another night of drinking games and goon! Following day we had the best snorkel we've done
so far since we've been away... crystal clear water with huge fish.... sailed back home and chilled out for a few days....
Got on the good old greyhound for another 5 hours to go to Townsville and Magnetic Island, surrounded by smelly irishmen, a man who smelt
like he'd pissed and s*** himself all the way from Sydney and a warm toilet.... nice... met the lads at the bus stop but they were going up to
Cairns for a few days; whereas, we're off to Magnetic Island. Arrived on a complete rip off of a ferry $29 return for 20 min ride! Got to our
resort... quite nice... although full of bed bugs! Gotta love em! Had a couple of pools and on the beach... so weren't so bad! Spent the next day
hiking for about an hour to get to a nudist beach... reminded me of that part up by Shellness.... old people with their bits out... not a pleasant site... anyways... climbed
rocks and messed around in the sea... had a BBQ on the beach and then went to see Ratatouille in an open air cinema... was different! Spent
the next day laying on a set of rocks watching stingrays... and found a group of Rock Wallabies.... just hanging around the rocks we were
laying on.... fed them.... and then chilled out for the rest of the day... oh we went to the open air cinema again and watched a shark
documentary- which left Jade wanting to join Greenpeace!
Got packed up and moved onto Mission Beach.... 4 hours later and in our new hostel... probably the best hostel we've been in Australia.... nice
surprise,,,, walked down to Mission beach and relaxed on the sand for a bit.... chilled out in the evening and then did pretty much the same the
next day... apart from when i was in the sea there were 2 stingrays about 4 inches away from my feet just laying in the sand.... tried catching
some with the rod but no luck.... managed to get a couple of coconuts open though... only took about an hour and a half... then it was off to
Cairns the following day... with the thought of a bungy on my mind...
Anyways thats all for now.... keep in touch... sorry its massive! ha.
Much love,
Marcus
