We left Kampot in a shared taxi, which was very cheap...but we soon realised why! There were 3 people in the front and 4 people in the back of the car! Luckily the road was good and it was a relatively short trip, but they certainly like to pack 'um in here! We even saw one car that was so full, the driver was sat on someones knee! But it's all part of the fun, I guess!
We had a really lazy couple of days in Sihanoukville, we even slept past 9am one day! Woo hoo! We visited Serendipidy beach, which was next to our hotel. It was beautiful but busy, mainly with Khmers though, which I suppose is a good sign! The next day we headed to Sokha Beach which is mainly for residents of the resort based there, but the public can use the lower part of the beach, which was really quiet and relaxing. The guard of the resort, whistled at us for attempting to put one foot over the "Residents Only" sign. So in an attempt to keep him on his toes we sunbathed as close to the (invisible) line as possible! We stayed there all day, as Laura couldn't be torn from her Da Vinchi Code book, until the sunset - didn't want you to wait much longer for our legendary sunset photos! We also visited an interesting restaurant - the Snake House, where you eat your meal, surrounded by different poisonous snakes, there was even one beneath our glass plated table! It was OK until one snake decided to eat its dinner too, a live frog that squeeled for about 10 minutes, which put us off our food a little! After our unusual meal we went to an open air cinema to watch 'Jarhead', which was great as we could just lounge under the stars and relax with a Rum and Pineapple - and the film wasn't bad either!
