Well in fact we ate at Anna's because Doris' new apartment is not quite ready for her; it has been completely renovated with all mod cons and boasts a very special feature - its own wine cellar and basement storage area which Doris thinks would make a good party room!
Today we visited the Mumok - museum of modern art but I'm afraid we are clearly not educated enough artwise to fully appreciate it. There were some pieces which had immediate appeal but for many, although the audio commentary was designed to enhance our appreciation, we came to feel if a piece required that amount of language to explain it then it was not carrying its message in its own right. Lunch was good though! And we then soldiered on to the Sisi Appartments & silverware collection etc. Empress Elizabeth (Sisi), beautiful wife of Franz Josef at age 16, felt her life was stolen away by the requirements of her position and became more and more of a recluse. Lots of movies made about her - will have to view one when we get home.
We finished our day enjoying afternoon tea with our 2 young hostesses, Anna and Doris - sad to say goodbye to them for who knows how long? And sad to say goodbye to Vienna. This morning we also did a trial run through the links to the airport train so that we can do it smoothly tomorrow morning at 4.30am. France, here we come!
