Hmmmm....bit of a sleep in before starting the day. Paul and I headed down to Carlos bakery do I could try canoli for breakfast....didn't like it so wandered around for a while before heading back to the hotel.
So what to do.....a couple of hours later we finally decided to head to Katz deli as I have been wanting to go there for quite some time to have pastrami on rye. So we lined up for quite some time before finally being allowed to get in line inside. Wow....crazy lines and staff not overly courteous but managed to place my order and had food passed with a side of pickles...yuck.
Finally we found a seat near the kitchen door and I attacked the sandwich...was it tasty...yes....was it worth $20....no. The hygiene and hospitality was less than acceptable but we had already ordered.
We went to leave and you have to present a ticket you get at the door....Paul didn't have his so we had to basically get permission from the manager to leave even though I had overpaid for the food we had.
Would I go back or recommend this iconic restaurant...ummm no.
When we left we did have an exciting moment...it snowed, well briefly but it did snow.
Off to Brooklyn bridge next to take Linda which was pretty crowded.
To end the day we headed back to the scene of my um drunken crime, Jeremy's ale house. The bartender remembered me, is that that a good sign?
Thankfully only after a couple of drinks later we headed back to the subway to get back to the hotel.
So to end the evening we packed and ate pizza.....life of the adventurous but tomorrow is the big day of the trip....NYE
