Merry Xmas, unfortunately not a white snowy one but sun is shining and we are able to go outside and explore. We headed straight for Rockerfeller Centre. On the the way we stopped in at Bryant Park where they had a winter market and pop up ice skating rink. Very festive and was a good start to the day. Clearly every tourist had the same idea as us as Rockerfeller Centre was extremely crowded but everyone there seemed festive , even the police who were posing for photos. Paul wore his collingwood jacket so that got a lot of comments, not good ones at that.
We then headed to times square which was equally as busy but really does have the wow factor at any time of the day.
We then headed back to the hotel to meet our new Aussie friends Sandy and Millie to go for Xmas lunch.
So where did we go.....to the Australian. Probably an odd choice for some people but we needed to eat real food. So we went pretty aussie. Paul had a lamb roast, I had a chicken Parma and Jacob had a meat pie. Odd choices for Xmas lunch but they were so tasty. A restaurant full of Aussies , including staff that were loud, drinking beer and having a great time. We did try egg nog...hmmmm they can keep that but Paul and Jacob were happy to end their meal with plum pudding.
So we pretty much rolled out of there and walked to the empire state building. Line up was about 2 hrs long so we kept walking taking photos.
By late afternoon everyone was tired so we dropped Linda and the boys at the hotel and Paul and I went out walking the streets. Every other tourist was doing the same thing so we lost patience after a while and headed back to have an early night.
We didn't miss out too much today. We had a secret Santa to start our day. We had a tree a few inches tall and put our wrapped presents underneath.
Some of us were lucky to get useful or momento gifts, Paul on the other hand got a pack of nappies and baby powder. Karma for being a grinch I reackon
