Let's hit the road again. We drove from Montgomery to New Orleans. Another less than interesting drive but we did find a flea market on the way. Well I would call it a redneck market but there were some interesting things to look at but Mitch asked for hand sanitiser when we left.
So apart from visitor centres and a turn that took us down to NASA rocket testing plant ( we turned around before we were escorted off the premises ) we didn't see much before we arrived in new orleans.
So what is the first thing we did....bourbon street. Wow, all I can say is it is like a redneck version of Vegas strip. We saw some rather interesting characters and a lot of tourists that clearly can't handle their booze.
We headed to the court of the 2 sisters and ordered our bourbon. Then we kept walking to see what other weird sights we could find.....then we found it. Today was a big football game between the falcons and saints and everyone was dressed up in team colours and watching the game in bourbon street. The game finished and suddenly there was a flash mob of falcons fans singing and dancing in the middle of the street. It was amazing, let's face it, African Americans know the beat and the moves. It gave me goosebumps it was so good. We then slowly made our way through the mob as it was getting bigger and bigger and headed for a refreshment. We went to an alley stall.....for some reason we thought that was an awesome idea and ordered a hurricane in a fishbowl. So that should have been easy enough but the lady serving us was more drunk than the tourists. It took her so much time to make the drinks....was a bit difficult for her to pour and not stop talking about god knows what as I stopped listening as I was laughing too hard.
Finally we had our fishbowl that we had to carry around. Bit sweet but packed a punch so we headed off to check in to our hotel, which was surprisingly clean, new and had awesome staff.
Everyone was tired and it was dark so we went to Walmart to grab a few things and had a quiet night......well the good times rolled for Linda and I til late.
