Not such an early start to the day as we slept in but got organised and headed back to the van to head to Alabama.
Not the most exciting drive but we still found it entertaining.
We ended up stopping at laurel county rest stop which was an hour from our destination of Montgomery and had our lunch. Nice and quiet until a man drove u and then proceeded to give us a questionable bleeding hearts story about needing money for fuel. I explained we had no cash but he did offer to give paul his wallet and id while I presume I went to the ATM with him. Ummm no thanks, we explained we are poor travellers. Thankfully he accepted that.
We then headed to Montgomery to our hotel which I booked yesterday. Very cheap and questionable reviews so expected the worst. Thankfully the hotel was better than expected with very helpful staff.
So once bags were unloaded we headed to dollar tree and Walmart as the kids want chicken burgers for tea so we finished doing that and the rain had started. Thunder storms are forecasted for late tonight so we headed straight to the Christmas parade instead of getting our coats first. That was a big mistake as the rain did not ease, only got heavier. The parade was amazing and we stood near some really friendly people that passed lollies on to the boys. They ended up with a lot of candy, mardi gras beads, glow stick necklaces so they had a great time.
Thankfully we weren't targeted by the pick pocketer like people around us were. There was a man that was hanging around that I thought was part of the group in front of us....apparently not as the police are now looking for him. So back to get dry clothes on, eat and sleep.
