What a freaking long day. But obviously incredibly worth it.
Ian and I were surprised with amazing seats on the airplane... Row one! We were completely spoiled with so much leg room, and comfy seats that can go from regular position to laying almost completely flat. Plus the different meals on the ten hour flight were pretty damn good. KLM was a great company to fly with.
We landed in Amsterdam ten hours after departing, with an eight hour time difference. I don't think any of us got more than two or three hours sleep during the flight (except maybe Ian, who's getting over some kind of illness).
After Amsterdam, we took a flight to Munich, caught a train to the area near our hotel and wandered some of the streets while waiting for our rooms to be ready. We had a drink outside a different hotel, and I discovered that (this place at least) doesn't measure alcohol in shot glasses. Maybe they use full 500 mL measuring cups. But it did the trick.
We checked in, got comfy, passed out for half an hour or so. Fighting the urge to sleep was the hardest part of the day. Time differences are the wooorrrrssssssst.
Had dinner later - I had authentic German schnitzel, followed by authentic German apple strudel. Yum yum. Walked around Marienplatz and admired how on the left there were amazingly old buildings, over 200 years old, and on the right there's neon lights blinking, telling you to shop at Forever 21. Bizarre, but cool.
Vitamin water tracker: none in Germany :(
