Today was pretty damn interesting. We went to see Dachau Concentration Camp - the first Nazi concentration camp in Germany. It was so bizarre, unreal, and macabre. There really aren't words to accurately describe it. We had a very knowledgable and interesting tour guide to give us a ton of information behind everything - it was a five hour tour of an area that wasn't too large. Listening to teachers talk about these horrors back in high school, or reading them in books/watching movies... nothing compares to standing in the same areas so many human beings were tortured and exterminated. Not only did we walk through reconstructed barracks, but we actually got to stand in the gas chamber. So bizarre.
We finished the day on a bit of a lighter note and visited Hofbrauhaus - a German brewhouse/restaurant dating back to 1516. It was so huge, and had a massive amount of people, most of whom were downing massive amounts of beer. I was tempted to go play with a long table filled with foreign-speaking sports boys...
