I put off updated what we've been doing because I've been so jet lagged that I couldn't string together coherent/interesting sentences. Then I realized if I waited til I was fully awake, I wouldn't be writing anything until July.
I woke up halfway through my first night in Munich (Saturday) to one of the craziest lightning/thunderstorms of my life. It literally sounded like cannons going off right outside the window.
Sunday we toured two castles in Bavaria. Super freaking cool! We saw Hoheschuangau and Neuschwanstein castles. I'm not sure what's more amazing: that we toured these beautiful castles built hundreds of years ago, or that I learned how to actually pronounce the names of these castles. We learned some of the history behind the two castles. The second castle, Neuschwanstein, inspired the design of Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty castle.
One of the best parts about going to the castles was getting in some solid exercises. Both were uphill pretty far, I had my sexy new shoes on and had fun running for parts of the trail. (Note: these castles were in the Alps, so technically got to run in the mountains!)
We also drove on the Autobahn to get to and from the castles... but couldn't go too fast since we were in a tour bus.
It was a long day, and I went for a late dinner with the parents. We ended up spoiling ourselves at the hotel restaurant with amazing wine, cheese and prusciutto plates, dessert and dessert wine. Needless to say I was ready to vomit from being so full.
