What a truly amazing day. It started out with a trip to Macy's and some retail therapy. We were trying to decide whether to join the line at Tickets (where you line up at the Seats - if you have been to NY you know where this is - to by cheap theatre tickets) to get some tickets for School of Rock and decided to just order them through the app so we could get going with our sightseeing. Once the tickets had been purchased we headed off for lunch at Carnegie Deli - a famous Deli where celebrities visit (their photos are plastered over the walls), has been in lots of TV shows and movies and has the best sandwiches in New York. We ordered a corn beef sandwhich to share which was BIG and I can say was the best sandwich I've ever eaten. After lunch we then headed to McGees pub where the writers of How I Met Your Mother used to drink and where they came up with the idea for the show. Apparently the cast is often known to pop in for a drink. After downing a beer - because it's so hot it's the only thing you feel like drinking - we then headed to 5th Avenue to check out Tiffany's and the Apple Store. We were heading back to our room and they had the street blocked off with police cars everywhere - we then realised there was a Mass Service being held for 9/11 at the most beautiful church I've ever seen. Whilst walking back to our hotel we stumbled on the Rockafella Centre and decided to go up. It was the most amazing view I've ever seen. I knew NY was big but until you see it from up high you just don't realise how big it is. Well worth the dollars to get up there. As we were making our way back to get ready to head out again, we stumbled onto Magnolia Bakery. As I'd walked nearly all day today I figured I needed a treat and lashed out and had a Lime Cheesecake - yum yum. Wintergarden Theatre was the venue for School of Rock which was about a 15 minute walk - without all the people most likely 5-10. The show was totally awesome and I'm glad we saw it - even though it cost a bomb. Another amazing day in the City that never sleeps but that's where I'm heading.
