Sat 19th May: Another early start and eight hours of temple gazing! We visited the sites on the Grand Circuit, Preah Khan, Neak Pean, Ta Som, East Mebon, Pre Rup, Ta Keo, Ta Prohm (magnificent examples of the giant fig trees taking over the doorways and walks of the monuments), Banteay Kdei, Sras Srang and Prasat Kavan. By 2.30 pm we'd covered all we wanted to see today and once again it was searingly hot! A good day though, lots to see, got chatting to a couple from Chennai who were on holiday here and by and large there weren't too many people around, making it pleasant going from place to place taking photos.
We chilled at the hotel then went out again to eat dinner. Tonight's choice was Samsara, an Indian place on the Alley that us owned by the same people as Le Tigre du Papier, in fact it was the exact spot where I did my cooking class. They do Indian, Khmer, European and pizzas in this section! Well we fancied Indian so had samosas, peshwari naan, chicken palak, chicken madras, rice and two beers each all for $14. It was an excellent meal.
We looked into bus options to Sihanoukville but haven't made our minds up yet so probably need to sort that one out tomorrow.
