Yesterday we got a tuk tuk after breakfast to Sovanna Mall and spent some time in the coolness of an air conditioned building! We had a shopping list in mind and found most things very easily - in particular a fruit/veg peeler for me that is used for shredding to make the salads we've been enjoying and an individual coffee maker (Vietnamese style) for Mac. We bought some supplies from Lucky supermarket too then took a tuk tuk back to the hotel to empty the bags. Then we went out for a huge walk via Happy Painting Gallery on the riverfront and over to Jetstar's office a couple of kms away to confirm our flights.
We ate dinner at Tamarind just down the street from the hotel and it was ok but not the best we've had: gado gado that was more like crudités with a spicy peanut dip, fish cooked in coconut milk with ginger and fresh spring rolls. We also had a couple of cocktails there but they didn't taste very alcoholic. We finished up with a beer at Freebird, which was packed out.
Today we took a tuk tuk to Sorya Mall and the central market. The mall was similar to Sovanna but older and not as cool inside. The market was busy as ever too and we didn't see anything spectacular. So we had a lazy afternoon, packed and watched a DVD, then later ate our last dinner at Freebird. Tomorrow will be the start of the long journey back to NZ.
