Things are heating up now, Sydney was comsiderably warmer than Melbourne, even though it is not that much further north. It took about 12 hours by bus, but that is really nothing in this crazy country where everything is the size of a smaller country, whether it is the distance between two major towns or the size of a steak (could be a really small country we're talking about here)
Anyways... Sydney is freaking cool, wasn't planning on staying here for too long, but I've had a walk around town on my own, and then took this free tour around with an awesome tour guide. He took us around all the different sights, told us about the history and founding of Australia and Sydney, showed us where to eat cheap, where to drink cheap, a bit what to see and what to do around here.
Probably gonna stay til friday/saturday and them continue north to Byron Bay, the home of Parkway drive. So thats mostly my plan for the time being, stay here, chill out, get to know Sydney, and then just hop on the fastest bus north. Not sure how the timing is going to hold up. Especially since they've got a deal at magnetic island where you get a 5 day crash course in diving and a dive certificate for about 2100 SEK, including acomodation.
One whole day just theory straight through and then a couple of days of training in a pool and end up with a dive in the great barrier reef and a licence to dive on your own. Not a bad deal, but I'm burning money right now. Just bought 11 nights for 1870 SEK, a bus ticket all the way up the east coast for a bit more than 2500 SEK. MAY have to take some extra money out, but when I get to new Zeeland, it's going to lighten up a bit. The NZ $ is a bit cheaper and I've already fixed 10 days of staying and food there. And then south america, which is going to be even cheaper. Last month in USA and canada might f*** it up though. We'll see... I'm almost thinking of trying to get a job, but don't have the time in any one location. I never stay in one place for more than 10 days, and rarely even a week.
But enough about that, Greg, the guide, was awesome, really funny guy, and knew a whole LOT. And I have now been at a scene from The Matrix. The woman in the red dress, for those who know the movie well.
Also taken a piss inside a world heritage site. All in all: good day. Now it's time to shower up and head out for a pub crawl.
Flugenschtiken from schweden.
