So here I am in Quetzaltenango, what a mouth full it is to say so the locals call is Xela. We call is s***ty Xela. And what a grotty town this is. Dirty, run down, and very little to do or see. It took us 8 long hours to get here, all on a 'chicken bus', they call them chicken buses as it is the mode of transport that thet locals use along with their chickens. The journey was an 'experience' as the buses get sooooo full, as they fill 2 man seats with 3 or more people, one seat had 3 adults and 3 children in it-madness! We thought they were going for the world record of how many people they could fit on a bus. And they drive like lunatics along a winding road high on the hills, we thought the bus was going to topple over. Well it added to the adventure.
We only spent one night at s***ty Xela, and spent that 1 night in a great little pub, yes a pub not a restuarant or bistro or cafe but a pub, how I miss pubs. We had one too many shots and ladies the 'switch' was made.......I got to 'know' the other Aussie.....te, he!!!
The next destination is Panajachel again on a chicken bus, its not gonna be good with a hangover, blurgh!!!!
