We left Luang Prabang this morning for a 6hour bus journey over the mountains to Vang Vieng. Several stops along the way with fabulous scenery. We had lunch in a striking restaurant on a precipice on a hill with an amazing view. Chicken soup yum.

We had an extra guide on our bus with the slogan 'No money,no honey' on his t-shirt. A common sentiment for the girls in South East Asia according to Limny :-/ We tend to slag Limny for having a girl in every port. Hes a catch out here because he has a good job.

Vang Vieng is the Laos version of backpacker central. Anything you want, you can get here. You can also go tubing down the river, getting and drunk and potentially breaking your legs along the way. :-/ It's all a bit artificial.

Also very hot! Our hotel was a bit disappointing. We were in bungalows at the back and they were a bit grimy and infested with geckos and ants :( We put up with them although we did have to watch out for them falling from the roof. I also spent one morning dancing round the bathroom with a gecko as we tried to avoid each other :-/ There was a small pool as well but a bit rough around the edges.

First thing we did, we went for a cool drink at a lovely hotel with a beautiful view of the limestone mountains and felt very jealous of the nice surroundings and pool and then dinner in a wee place across the road. My first European dish of the trip im ashamed to admit :-/ Ham and pineapple pizza was good though :D
