We were up this morning and out for a drive in the minivan to another waterfall. We took a leaky little boat with a dodgy engine up the river to get there. This waterfall was a bit special because there were elephants :D We went for an elephant ride through the jungle sitting in a basket on top of the elephant. Our elephant trainer was sitting on the neck of the elephant but kept jumping off to take lots of photos. Mum got to sit on the neck of the elephant and then after the jungle they walked the elephants up the hill and down a steep slope into the pond at the bottom of the river. Lots of fun.
Some of the others went zip lining and then it was time for elephant bathing. Not washing the elephants but bathing with them. Hanging on to the back of them as they disappear under the water in the pond. There were two of us on each one trying to cling on for dear life as elephants rolled into each other and to rocks :-/ Absolutely mental! Good fun tho :D
Not much to top elephants today. Dinner at a nice place where we tried a selection of dishes none of which were very nice :-/ You win some, you lose some lol. Laos doesnt have a large range of traditional dishes. People often eat the same thing for breakfast lunch and tea. We have tried a few things though and not all bad :) Buffalo meat is the equivalent of beef here and they have Laap which is minced meat and herbs. Lots of noodle dishes and stir fry. Sweet and sour and chicken with cashews are a good back up for me :) Back to the market for a third time on the way home :)
