Hi y'all,
As promised the update about the Full Moon party....well it started off pretty bad. Initially we were told it had been cancelled as it was a Buddha Day, so we hired a jeep and thought we would explore the island instead. I drove us down to Hat Rin, which was a little hairy as the raods were soooo steep ( and I kept crossing my arm and beeping the horn by mistake - v.embarrassing - lots of 'that stupid girl driver' looks!)
We soon realised that not all Thais care about celebrating Buddha day, the party was still on, so we drove allthe way back to our resort on the North of the Island, Chaloklum. We had our jeep for about 6 hours, having paid for 24!
Anyway the party was awesome - what I remember of it! We chilled out at the Drop In Bar for quite some time and met up with some frineds we had made in Chiang Mai. They play RnB and dance stuff here..we started on beers. As the night moved on we went further up the beach (with our new neon painted tattoos - aren't we cool!) and Emma and I danced the evening (early morning) to Drum and Bass, which was fun. Haven't danced to that for years. Presently on the Vodka Buckets, mmm! At the early hours we went to chill out at the farthest end of the beach, where there is a bar right up on the mountain giving you a really clear picture of the whole beach. Now on Bacardi Breezers, what a great mix. Starting to get a little wasted now.
We left this club - Sarah was getting a little twinge of vertigo, it was really high - and went for a walk along the beach. As we went a man was grabbing this lady and trying to drag her down to the sea. She was screaming and trying to get away. Me, Sarah and Emma joined in and jumped the guy in a Wonder Women stylee. We were all screaming at the guy to let her go, whilst karate chopping his arm. We managed to get him off of her and she ran off before we could ask if she was ok. A little scary and dangerous I guess! However when we looked back to see where he went, he seemed to join his gang (looking suspiciously like a bunch of Thai policemen), so we may have actually helped a felon escape....ooopps!
Anyway I soon became little weary (extremely pissed to my friends) and fell asleep, again, on the beach. Sarah and Emma became a little concerned for my wellbeing, when I sat upright and curled my fingers round my eyes like a small child pretending to wear glasses. Emma was feeling a little ill by this point so I volunteered to go to the 7/11 on the beach to get her some water (although I couldn't actually see!) You have to take your shoes off to go into shops here, and yes, you've guessed it I left the there! Back at the beach I fell asleep again, whilst the ladies chatted to some Aussie guys we had met on the ferry over to the island. (My chances of pulling were not very high at this point anyway!) When it was time to go home Sarah had to (voluntarily, and with enjoyment I bet) slap me across the face to wake me up.
We finally arrived back to our resort at about 8.30am. Emma headed straight for bed (and the toilet - first time she's puked black apparently), whilst Sarah and I headed straight for food. Sleep started around 9.30am, then the next 24 hours were spent mainly puking and sleeping. All in all it was a great night and well worth the trauma the next day!!!
The next night we all woke at 4.00am to the biggest storm. At one point the thunder was so loud the floor of our hut was shaking. We had to bring in all our clothes from the balcony, so they didn't get a soaking or blow away. It was very exciting though. I got so into it I suggested we pack our bags incase the sea came in too high and we had to evacuate -luckily the girls brought me back down to earth and told me to go to sleep.
The next day we decided to move to another part of the island and looked into going to Bottle Beach, which is a really secluded part of the island that can only be reached by boat. This plan was quickly haulted however when we were told the boats couldn't reach the beach due to the waves, so we would have to jump into the water and carry our packs over our heads through the sea. Being 5ft I didn't think this was the best idea, so we have moved to the North East to Thong Nai Pan Noi.
Love you all.
