Yo,
Well in one day we managed to get nearly every mode of transport possible to get here, on the 15th Oct. Motorbike sidecar-esque tuk tuk (our bags did not seem safe on that trip), bus, taxi, aeroplane, mini-bus, ferry and songtheaw.
We arrived in Ko Samui by plane at 5:40pm and the last ferry over to Koh Phangan was at 6:30pm, so obviously we thought there was no way we were going to get there in time. Little did we know that the airport there is about the size of the downstairs of my house, all outdoors, but undershelter. The information office is a metre from the baggage reclaim, if you could call it that - it's a tiny conveyor belt that the vans drive up next to and three guys place the bags on - and the taxi are a metre from that. It was a close shave and we had to run, but we made it!
The boat journey was lots of fun and we met loads of people. We ended up staying with them ratherthen heading for our booked accomodation. There were 13 of us + our luggage in a songtheaw (small bus/taxi) which must have been very illegal. Sarah had to sit on my lap and some of the guys had to stand up and hold on to the top of the car. Needless to say we couldn't get up any hills and had to get out to push!
Went out to Haad Rin - with less people in each taxi this time - with the people we were staying with in Field's Paradise (sounds glamourous, but is one double bed between three of us), which was a good night and Sarah got on well with one of the guys we were with - a pilot don't you know.
Weather has been pretty rubbish. Not much sun at all. We are now staying in the north of the island in a village called Choloklum. Very pretty and very secluded, but it would be better with the sun. Oh and have had my first nut experience - just a bit of puke nothing major. Not bad going though I feel for 3 weeks in.
Anyway will update about the Full Moon Party soon.
