Had the journey of all journeys to get to foz from bonito! Our bus left bonito at 14.30 and we finally arrived into foz at 13.00 the following day- only 6 hours later than we had been told! Although the bus was really smelly as we ended up near the toilet still got a pretty good nights sleep (why people cannot control their bowels on public transportation is beyond me).
Stayed at a really cool little hostel called favela chic hostel which is only a few weeks old and owned by an English traveller who gave lots of great advise about the area!
Had a walk around foz and the city to be honest is less than desirable so we decided to cook dinner that night. We went to the supermarket and thought lets make vegetable bake with all the vegetables we have never seen before- disaster! 2 hours after we started cooking the manioc was still rock hard but we gave in and ate our rock hard vegetables in a tomato and cheese sauce and figured it would be good for the ever growing waist band! There was a massive thunderstorm that night so we just chilled watching some movies!
The next day the rain continued! It stopped around 12 so we decided to risk visiting the Brazilian side of the falls! One word to describe them... Spectacular and this was meant to be the bad side! Walked along A trail with lots of amazing view points of the falls- I had never realised quite how massive they are! Once we reached the final big waterfall we found some quati (a raccoon like animal) who kept staring at us with a look in his eyes that said give me your sandwich- being the massive girls that we are this sent us running! No other tourist was scared of the fluffy animals but I guess they didn't read the sign about them having rabies!
That afternoon I spent a long time uploading pictures! That night we started to go to sleep went I heard a fluttering by my ear screaming I jumped out of bed and turn on the light and there near my pillow was a moth the size of an eagle!!!! The two Dutch girls started screaming so I figured I would have to save the day! With a bowl and my diary I managed to scope the moth up and chuck him out the window- it is on film so will have to get it on Facebook in the near future!
