We had a long bus journey today but the scenery was absolutely amazing. Mountains and salt flats just a beautiful site! We got into San pedro at about 4pm and found our hostel really nice to look at but you are literally not allowed to do anything!
Just went around some of the tour places to get an idea of costs. That evening myself and three of the girls got a cheeky curry- not the best ever but it was a nice change from steak! After we just had a couple of cocktails. Is strange here as you are not allowed to buy a drink unless you buy food which was the perfect excuse for a pancake to share! Had an early night as you are not allowed to socialise after 10pm here- ridiculous.
Enjoyed the sun in the morning and walked around the town which is really lovely and little surrounded by mountains. After lunch myself as maureen went sand boarding! So much fun but you get sand everywhere. Walking up the sand dunes is also really hard work in the sun with a board but by my last attempt I managed to get all the way to the bottom without falling over once :)
We then went to valley of the moon and hd a beer and some pisco sour whilst watching the sun set. The sunset turns the mountains a spectacular shade of red but as soon as that sun drops man it gets cold!
That night we went on a star gazing trip where we saw shooting stars and got taught about the constellations. We also got to see mars and Saturn through the telescope as well as a cluster of stars that are 400 million light years away- totally awesome!
After that we were FREEZING so our beds were calling out!
Today I had a bit of a mooch around and I have decided to go on the salt flat tour to Bolivia with two guys in the hostel! That afternoon we went to a salt lagoon which was amazing as it is just like the dead sea. You get in (not the warmest water in the world) and then just float. You can stand completely upright and not have to kick to keep yourself afloat! We then had some more pisco sours and a few snacks whilst watching the sunset- an activity that will never get boring!
