Ok I am sorry this will be brief and rubbish but the empanada shop shuts in twenty minutes. (I know, how tragic) I will write more soon. This weekend we went to Puno which is a town on Lake Titicaca. We left on Friday very early and had a bus ride/tour. It was nine hours long but we visited lots of places on the way - like this ancient settlement with loads of granaries which was cool - so it didnt feel so long. That night we stayed in Puno in a nice hostal and I saw my first telly in about a month! The Aviator was on and I was v excited but we were all tired and I had a headache from the altitude so I fell asleep half way throuh . how crap. The next day we visited a floating island!! There are several floating islands on Lake Titicaca and 9 families live on the one we visited. The islands are about 3 metres thick and are made of reeds and literally float! Bundles of reed roots - which float naurally - are strapped together and then dry reeds are piled on top in criss cross. The islands have to be anchored to the bottom of the lake with ropes or else they float away! Sometimes they spin around during the night and everyone is really confused when they wake up and if they want to move their island, the have to get a boat to TOW it. haha!! The people live in little huts made of reeds which are all woven together, their boats are made of reeds and they even eat reeds! Reed people! I felt like I was in a story the whole time I was there. Oh and also if they need the loo they have to go in a boat to a different island to pee! wow. I would never leave the boat! I}Being on the island was like being in a sort of doormat world. It was wicked though and SO sunny! Like a doormat in the sun. So unreal.
I will write more soon. This is sort of like an episde. ha.
Loads of love xxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
