Happy New Year!
Hope you all had fantastic christmases - I was on Fraser Island for three days (the largest sand island in the world) which was brilliant (although it wasn't sunny - so much for my boiling hot oz christmas!) Was with a fantastic group of people (as has been the case most of the way down the East Coast) which helped make it all the more special. No man made roads on the island so everyone has to use 4wd - quite scary at times especially as three of my friends were involved in a huge crash three days before my tour started but they were self drive rather than guided (I'd treated myself to luxary as it was christmas and was so glad after I heard about their nightmare). Think I goT to Fraser jsut in time as a cyclone is currently on its way to the island for new year. Currently in the very nice, yet very expensive Noosa. Saw Susan Kennedy from Neighbours earlier - if it's good enough for her christmas hols I figure its good enough for me! Oz so far has been great - Whitsundays were beautiful - was on a gorgeous classic sailing boat called Enid - did lots of snorkelling and slept under the stars in the middle of the ocean - was incredible. Whithaven beack is like nothing I can describe - photos don't even do it justice. Have spent a night at a cattle station - learnt how to crack a whip, rode rodeo and rounded up goats on horse back! Went to a great little town called The town of 1770 which was one of my favourite places so far - went scooberooing (rode a chopper - pink or course! - around the town for 3 hours - I know want a motorbike when I get home!) Was with a fantastic group of English and Canadian people who I have met along the way quite a few times - they taught me how to surf - managed to stand up but bashed my head on the board and got stung by a jelly fish!
Most of the hostels have been really nice despite one awful one in Airlie Beach where I think I got bed bug bites again.....they itch like mad.
Tan is fading as the weather hasn't been great for the past few days but its goregous and sunny today.
New Year is still up in the air - can't decide where to go - Im either in surfers paridise or Brisbane - depends whether I cancel my current accomdation and lose money to be with lots of my friends or just go alone to surfers....!
Having such a great time - met so many fantastic people along the way and most time end up travelling with people for a few days at a time and then moving on. Probably been doing far too much drinking and partying but made sure I've seen everthing there is to see as well.....Can't believe Oz is nearly over! Looking forward to Sydney and neard great things about Fiji.
Off to make the most of the sun and do some sunbathing - oh the hard life of atraveller!
Much love to all xxx
