Lucy's Travels
Saturday 24th December - Arrive in Coffs Harbour at 9.30pm after almost 6hours on a coach - yuck! Booked ourselves into a hotel as a xmas present to each other, which was ok and had a quick walk around.
Sunday 25th December - Breakfast is included but I never thought I would be eating fruit salad on xmas day. The hotel is a bit out of the way about 50min walk to the beach. As we were walking through town to get to the beach it was deadly quiet everywhere. We then realised that with no shops or restaurants open how would we have xmas dinner?! We lay on the beach thinking how strange it is to be lying outside when everyone else at home has the heating on. On the way back to the hotel we passed a garage that was open, so for Christmas dinner we had pot noodles and to get drunk we raided the mini bar! Bit of a laugh really but Christmas really is not the same over here as it is at home, most consider it just another day off from work! We then spent the rest of the night trying to ring home but every backpacker in Australia was obviously attempting to do the same thing. We got through eventually!
Sunday 26th December - Up early to leave hotel and move to a hostel. Now we are nearer the beach and opposite a little shopping centre, which is a lot more easier especially without a car. Headed down to the beach and were having a relaxing time until Dan got stung by a jelly fish! I found some vinegar at the hostel and that calmed the sting but not Dan - we havnt really been in the sea since!
Monday 27th December - Had a beach day
Tuesday 28th December - went to a place called the 'Big Banana' bit of a theme park they sell everything banana. Have an ice skating rink, snow slope, taboggan and a candy making shop. We then spent the rest of the day on the beach.
Wednesday 28th December - Went on a walk from Park Beach to the Jetty Beach in Coffs. It was so hot walking around, Coffs is a strange place, no cafes or places to stop for a quick drink. It is a really sleepy town with not really a lot to do, it is pretty, however.
Thursday 29th December - Went walking up the hill to a different beach along the harbour. Spent most of the morning there trying to promise Dan that another jelly fish will not sting him. He can now go back into the water about knee deep!
Friday 30th December - Have to catch the bus at 4.40am Ill let you know how that goes and type back when in Sydney
