I trekked to Annapurna Base Camp with a 'Three Sisters' guide and porter! My guide was absolutely amazing... female guide hired through 3 sisters trekking organisation, a company aimed at empowering Women in Nepal...a fantastic organisation and i highly recommend to anyone trekking in Nepal. The trek lasted for 11 days. I started in a town called Nayapul.... an hour and half from Pokhara. Most days i walked for 5-6 hours! We stayed in tea houses each night! Such luxury compared to other treks i have been on! A soft bed and even hot showers in some places... food was good as well! The views along the trail were incredible...we passed though such a diversity of landscapes.... lush green forests with beautiful flowers and monkeys swinging in the trees, traditional nepali villages where we witnessed rice farming and their general way of life, crystal clear rivers and of course the magical mountains!!! We were so lucky with the weather... clear days and no rain! Highlights... sunrise at Poon Hill - the sun hitting the peaks was stunning! Although the 4.30am wake up and then having to climb 800 metres was a killer! Annapurna Base Camp at 4,100 metres was unbelievable... we were up for sunrise.... 360 degree views of the mountain and glacier beneath.... no words i use will be able to describe the breathing taking views i experienced! All the steps and hills we climbed were definitely worth it :-).... a moment i will never forget... as cheesy as it sounds lol!! Absoultely freezing at base camp!!! I wore all my cloths to bed include my hat and gloves as it was so cold!!! My trek ended in Phedi... i was pleased to be back in civilisation again and have clean clothes but i missed the clean air and quietness of the mountains! The evening i got back my guide invited me to her house (well room) for a meal... so sweet of her! Like a best friend and i am still in contact with her now! Writing this now a few weeks after my trek makes we want to do another trek... next time!
