We took an overnight train from Chengdu to Xian which took 16 hours! The chinese in our carriage were so friendly - helped us with our bags and were offering us food - very sweet and so welcoming! On arrival we were picked up by the hostel so we didn't have any hassle in trying to find our way which was nice! The hostel was nice and had traditional chinese courtyards. A good atmosphere as well! The first night we were there they had organised a BBQ!
We did a tour of the Terracotta Warriors which was absolutely fascinating! The collection of 6,000 men and horses were discovered in 1974. They are over 2000 years old and were originally constructed to protect the tomb of the Emperor Qin Shi Huang. The building off the warriors and horses is thought to have taken 11 years! The warriors are now housed in a huge airplane hanger!
The weather in Xian was horrible when we were there! Cold and rainy... reminded me off England lol! We were even in trousers and jumpers.. which is a first for the last 3 months! The weather limited us from seeing the other sights of Xian so we were only able to see the Shaanxi History Museum!Interesting museum about the ancient history of China!
