Mike needs a new alarm! Didn't go off but luckily Cai woke us up in enough time to get changed, grab our stuff and get to the bus stop for 7. We got a short bus ride to the ferry then got on the ferry which left at half 8. It was a pretty nice ferry, big area to stand outside (but very windy!!!), game bit, a few bars and a cafe etc...we mainly stayed in the bar area (not drinking Mike would like to add!). Took 3 hours to get there, got some good views of the south island as we approached! New Zealand really is gorgeous. Had a dizzzy moment before we got off which wasn't very nice. Stuck with me while we got off, then got on our Kiwi Bus. New group was the complete oppsite of ours! We would always properly welcome new people but ehy were the oppesite, pushing past us saying "we know the driver so we're just gonna get on" and stuff. Seemed like lots of little groups that didn't speak to eachother as well instead of everyone having fun together. No one was up for doing much either, so bit of a shame but as we know, thats how it goes! Me and Mike had looked in the Kiwi Guide and seen a trip we really wanted to do, but we hadn't realized it left from Nelson and if we wanted to do it we'd need an extra night (we'd only booked one). Went down and spoke to the bus driver, Garage, who was really nice. Ended up staying sat at the front talking to him for a while then he rang up for us and sorted it out so we were really lucky - apparently all the buses are super full at the moment. Stopped for an ice cream in a park, then carried on to Nelson. Me, Mike and Cai had pre-booked a hostle as we knew how busy they were. We'd not pre-booked for the main hostle on the Kiwi route and it turned out that one was really full anyway so half our group ended up coming to the one we had pre-booked to anyway! Was a good decision! As soon as Garage dropped of the first group he said we had the cheaper and better hostle ... shows it's good to look round yourself! This Hostle, Custom House, is just like a big house! A nice one though :) Got a lounge, kitchen, dining room and bar downstairs and the rooms upstairs are really nice. Laundry room and internet are free which is a bonus as well as free bike hire! Really nice people running it too. Me, Mike, Cai and another girl from our old bus, Bex, wanted to go to the beach but all the bikes had been taken. Wanted to get there before the sun went down so the owner gave us a free lift which was so nice. Was too chilly and windy to sunbath but there were some massive waves so spent a bit of time in the sea! Beach was lovely :-) Walked back to out hostle which took about half an hour, then Mike felt really poorly :-( He was really hot and felt dizzy so after showers etc we went to bed. Had an early start anyway so was glad we did and we both slept really well :-)
