Left Nelson early and got on our bus, met our new driver, Matty. Liked him instantly as he played S-Club 7 and Aqua to start the day :-P Really great driver, talks to the bus a lot, plays good music and is really funny :-) After sitting at the very back of the bus all through the North island so sat at the front, much better views!! As NZ is so busy at the moment, there's another bus running with us so 100 people instead of 50.... the other bus has people we know and some other good people too :-) Do everything along side them so it's all good, met some more good people on our bus too who we hadn't spoken too yet. Theres still a group of people who are a bit stuck up but they keep to themselves now after Matt told them to 'stop the b****yness' so it ok :) Drove to the Nelson Lakes, where the photo on the front of our Kiwi Experience guide is taken! Got some of our own good photos, I didn't go in though as it was pretty cold and there were eels in the water! We decided to do Jet Boating in our next location, Westport, so were put on the other bus for the next stretch as they needed even numbers of jet boaters. Their driver, Ollie, seems nice too. Not as good taste in music though! Stopped off for an Ice Cream which was delicious then carried on to Westport. Dropped our stuff at our hostle, Bazils. As there are so many of us there were double rooms going so we got a free upgrade which was nice! Pretty nice rooms, had a tv, felt like I hadn't seen one in ages! After checking in we went of jet boating!! Decided to do it as it was a good deal and because i loved the mini-jet boat at Agroventures so much. A big group had gone before we got there and then there were only 5 of us so we were put in the little boat! Meant it could do more spins and stuff and it was awesome! Scenery was lovely, had a slow(ish) ride down the river then when we went back up it was soo quick! And the driver kept doing 360% spins!! Completely unestimated how forceful it would be and actually nearly flew out the boat on the first spin!! Was thrown around a lot, in a boat with 4 strong guys so had to try my best to hold on! Loved it though, got drenched and face felt like I was sky diving again, but really glad I did it. Got an hour on the boat which is a lot longer than other jet boats and out driver was brilliant, As we were nearing the end though, the engine overheated and we had to wait for about half an hour which he got a hammer and duct tape and tried to sort out the problem!! Was pretty funny really if not a bit cold! Bypassed something or other in the end, then carried on. He attached the boat to the back of the pick up truck and we stayed in the boat as he drove along the road which was funny, first time i've been in a boat on a road!! When we got back to the Jet boat centre, then gavce us free beer/smirnoff as a sorry for thye delay which was nice! I was freeeezing cold though and feeling really sleepy. When we got back to the hostle it was later than scheduled... there was a pub crawl planned but we wouldn't have time to shower etc before it started. Wasn't sure I felt up for going anyway.... it's hard because there's always something going on here, you never have time to rest but sometimes you need to ! Have to pick between being sociable and having a nice rest!! Decided we'd have shopwers etc, go to the supermarket, get dinner then join everyone later on. Turns out the supermarket was shut so we decided to go to a bar which did pizza, which turned out to be the last bar in the oub crawl!! So stuck with everyone there, got a chance to properly chat to the people we'd met that day, had a few drinks then headed back late evening. Found 2 other couples who we get on with well :-) Went to bed, watched some tv (!) then went to sleep.
