Got up bright and early and got breakfast (again, all you could eat buffet!) then headed down to the Spot X surf school. I think there were about 20 of us. We met our surf instructors, 3 guys simelar to the guys who taught me on my Sydney lesson. All blonde haired and tanned, thinking thats pretty standard out here! Signed in, sat around and listened as he told us about our lesson, the boards, the waves etc. Then we got out wetsuits on (if we wanted them), suncreamed up (it was a beautiful day), grabbed a board each and headed to the beach! Sat round with our boards as they went through how to stand up. It was different to the way I had been shown before, on the water I just did the way I was taught in syndey as I found it easier. Took a group photo then we headed onto the water! The waves weren't as strong so that made it a bit easier but I wasn't as focused as in the first lesson - mnaged to stand up more times though! Was really good fun again, like I say I prefered the first way I was taught but I just stuck to that so it was ok. There were a lot of people in the water so I kept hesitating when trying to catch a wave as I didn't wanna take anyone out. One of the instructors was determained to help me get a decent photo of me standing up but felt really pressured! So kept messing up which was frustrating. Then any time I did stand up the photogrpaher wasn't looking, typical! Really enjoyed myself though, and the lesson felt like just the right length. We headed back to the beach and handed back our boards and wetsuits, then got showered and washed my hair. Had lunch, wraps and sandwiches etc, no chicken though so my wrap was just salad! Chilled out for a bit then our photos came up on the screen. I decided to pay to have 5 of them as I thought it would be a nice thing to have. I had planned to have 2 nights at surf camp but the girls were all having one and had booked me in with them (as I had told them I wasn't sure). Most of the guys were staying another night but I didn't really want to be with just guys so went with it. Me, Laura and a guy called Nikki went for a walk on the beach to take some photos, then headed back. Went to chill in the hammocks (sooo comfy!) where I got speaking to a girl called Lauren, who said she was staying another night! I really, really wasn't ready to leave so went and spoke to Wings and he said that that would be fine. This was only half an hour before the bus left! But i knew if I hadn't stayed another night I would regret it as it was such a cool place and I'm not really in any rush. So glad I made that decision! Went and signed in for another night and was told there were only teepee's left to stay in! Lauren had booked into a room but really kindly moved to be in a teepee with me! They were actually pretty cool, spacious and there were only 3 of us in a 5 bed one so we had room! They were just a bit hot (but when it came to sleeping in them they were a pretty good temprature). We dropped our stuff off after the bus had left (arranged to meet the other girls in Byron) then I popped online. Got chatting to 2 welsh guys, Matt and Ian, who were trying to book accomodation at Byron Bay like me, so we all booked together to syat at the Holiday Village which we'd heard was nice. They were also on the Oz Experience. At 5, me and Lauren got in the free minibus into town where we went to a drive through liquor shop (!!!) and the supermarket where we picked up some pasta for that night and beans for the next day (we had opted to pay for the teepee only without food). Got back and Lauren cooked our dinner which was good!! We then went and sat in the eating area, met with the 3 guys from the room next to us, Zac and Jamie and Matt and Ian. Then a guy who worked at Spot X got out loads of percussion instruments and there was a little music session round the campfire which was pretty cool. Met another guy called Chris who was from England. We all stayed sat around the campfire before heading down to the beach which was deserted, where we dipped out feet in the sea then sat around drinking our goon and chatting :-) It was really nice and I knew I'd made the right decision staying another night! When it started getting a bit chilly we went back and sat round the campfire which was quite quiet now and were chatting for ages. Such a chilled night, headed back to the teepee pretty late and went to sleep - no creepy crawlies luckily!!
