Got up and checked out of the teepee at 9 then headed to the beach with Lauren, Jamie, Zac and a girl Zac had met. Walked quite far along then layed down and sunbathed, wasn't as clear as yesterday but still so hot! Definately improving my tan! After sunbathing then a quick dip me and Lauren headed back and made some beans on toast for brunch. We then layed on the benches by the fire for a bit then moved to a grassy bit by the beach where Lauren fell asleep and I chilled out listening to my iPod. When I got up I felt a bit dizzy - definately think the heat sets of my dizzy spells. They were showing Braveheart in the TV room so I went and had a cool shower then sat in there for a bit. Found out about the earthquake in Queensland whihc was another shock - thought our bus might be cancelled but it wasn't. After a while I went online and went on facebook for a bit, then we all got our bags ready to put on the bus which was coming at 4. I went and had a little rest in the TV room as it was empty and I was still feeling pretty poorly. Got on the bus and our driver seemed really cool, very funny. Me and Lauren were sat right at the back which was soo bumpy and gave me a really bad headache. Not cool :-( Managed to get a little slep though on the 3 hour journey to Byron Bay where we arrived at 7. Byron Bay is a little chilled out hippy town that is anti-commerrcialism so theres no Mcdonalds here! There was a big festival nearby in the 70's to celebrate "alternative lifestyles" (don't think I need to explain that!) then all the hippies discovered Byron Bay and settled here. It really does have a lovely chilled out vibe and the beach is gorgeous. Lauren had already booked into another hostel so said bye to her but arranged to meet that night. Zac and Jamie were also going to a different hostel where their other friends and Sarah and Laura were. I got dropped off at Holiday Village with Matt and Ian and Jonty, Dean and Mike. Seemed like a really nice place, only one story, more like a hotel... lots of rooms all surrounding a pool (pool didn't look amazing but still nice) with an eating area outside, kitchen, bathrooms and tv room. Me, Matt and Ian were in the same room and walked in to see a massive Welsh flag hanging over one of the beds - the guys were very very happy! Chatted away to the Welsh guy in the room who seemed really nice, their accents got stronger as they spoke to eachother and I struggled to understand what they were saying! We were a bit suprised when a girl appeard from behind the flag, didn't realize she was in there! She was seeing the Welsh guy though. She was also English, called Sarah and seemed really nice. Our room is small but clean and nice, pretty hot though!! We are in a great location too, on the main road of Byron right opposite the famous backpackers bar, Cheeky Monkeys! We got showered and changed then headed straight over where we got really cheap meals which were really good! The guys got loads of free beer too because we had Oz Ex wristbands and hostle wristbands, so did pretty well. I got discounted wine too so it was only 3 bucks a glass! After dinner i popped back to do my hair then we met the others in Cheekys who had come from their other hostels. there were a couple of competitions on the stage, Jonty and Dean got involved in one but dropped out when they weren't doing too well and more clothes were going to have to come off! Kind of a theme here haha! After that, the Dj turned the music up and I wondered where the dance floor would be but the staff cleared the tables and that was that! Everyone got up on the tables and we danced away, the music was awesome so it was cool. I still felt pretty ill however so didn't get totally into it which was a shame. I did see Jo, Kallum, Yakult and Dora from NZ though which was awesome :-D Chatted to them and danced etc then headed back at around half 1 to bed, worried im getting a cold because everyone was baking hot but i was shivering in my trackies and hoody! Hope I get better soon, dont want to be ill again!
