Lucy's Travels
Yesterday Lucy and I hired a boat along with an American girl we have met - You didn't need a license! We hired the boat for 4 hours and after being shown what to do and where not to go in the sea we were on our way.
We headed straight towards the stingrays we had been told about, there was also a baby shark apparently. As soon as our boat had stopped the stingrays were all around us, you could see them so easily as the sea was so clear... The slight was unbelievable. We were allowed to go into the water and touch them as they were friendly stingrays - I was a bit unsure whether to go in but I had seen others in the water and it wasn't deep so I climbed over the side of the boat and jumped in.... The water was up to my neck!! We were obviously a lot deeper than the others were, frightened I jumped back onto the boat!
We headed to a private island next, each of us taking it in turns to steer the boat. We put the anchor on a tree and went and had a cocktail. As it was a private island we were not allowed to go into the island but were able to walk around the outside.
After this we ate some lunch on the boat and headed back to the stingrays!! There was another boat alkready there so we went over to it and saw the water was shallow. Cailin (The American) and myself jumped in, but were still scared. There was an instructor with the other boat who had one of the stingrays and was holding it above the water which was amazing. Caitlin and I kept swimming back to the boat when a stingray came near but eventually managed to calm down. However when one came near it would not let us touch them and swim away... But I can now say I have swum with stingrays and also somewhere a baby shark!!
