Well, I finally left Australia - It was sad saying goodbye to Caroline, who had been with me for over 4 months! I missed Australia as soon as I got to the airport...It had been my home for 5 months. However, I had new adventures to embark upon and Hong Kong was my next destination.
It was a 9 hour flight, I had a row to myself so I stretched out and watched film after film - It made the flight go really quickly and before I knew it we were landing. Mark was waiting for me at the airport (Mark Szeliga who I went to school with, he was letting me stay with him for my stay.) We jumped on the MTR (Train) and headed to the pub! I met some of his friends and we had a few drinks before heading to his place. Granted, he had warned me of the size and it was small but it wasn't a hostel!!
The next day I headed over to Hong Kong Island and walked around for a few hours looking at the sites. Mark and his girlfriends came and met me later in the day and we headed over to Stanley which is about an hour away and the drive is along the coast. There was a market and I slipped and bought a Chloe bag for 12pounds! We had a beer on the wall viewing the sea but it was really chilly in Hong Kong. When the sun went in we went to a bar where we spent the next few hours!
The next morning I didn't do too much. Kristine (Mark's girlfriend) and I went down to this resovoir down by the apartment and sat in the sun for a couple of hours...I also entertained myself in the park for the elderly! (It's like a play park for kids but with exercise machines - V.Funny!!) We went to watch Mark play football in the evening which was very cold!
On Monday it was my last full day so I went up to the Peak to see the view of Hong Kong. I took the tram up and almost died - It was such a steep gradient it felt like the tram was going to fall down! I was very scared but was on my own sat next to this 10 year old Asian girl who was loving it so put on a brave face. I didnt look down though! However, at the top it was worth the tram ride...The view was amazing. Luckily it was a clear day so I could see forever! I wanted to wait until the sun went down to get a night shot so I went and ate dinner at a Chinese Restaurant - Picture this - On my own in scruffy jeans and a jumper, in a pretty much 5* place! Hmm...Kodak moment! But they gave me a view of Hong Kong facing the window and I ate with waiter's staring at me! The view was even more beautiful in the evening but it was getting cold so I headed back to Mark's to have an early night then to the aorport in the morning.
