Lucy's Travels
So I have been in Moorea for the last couple of days and only now have managed to get in touch.. Reasons will follow! We left London after over an hour's delay due to the recent happenings, the queue's to get through departures were so long that 21 passengers were late boarding! Once up in the air Lucy and I were pleased that we had a row of 4 seats to ourselves so we could stretch and sleep..
The journey did not seem to take that long as it was taken up of watching films, eating and sleeping! We arrived in LA but did not have a long stop over so got a drink (I was very tempted to ask what coke they had!) We got onto the connecting flight to Tahiti only to realise we were sat in the front row behind business class and the big screen tv was directly in front of us, not only that the man sat next to me started snoring as soon as we took off... Lucy and I were eyeing business class up for a lot of that journey. We did ask to move but business class was not offered and there were no other seats together ont he plane. The seats were also so uncomfortable and almost 9 hours later I was ready for a full body massage...Or a walking stick!!
We arrived in Tahiti at about 5.45am local time ahich is 4.45pm English time. The time difference is very strange and took a while getting used to it. We got a local bus to the ferry port and a ferry to Moorea which took about 40mins. Another bus took us to our campsite which was another 40minute or so journey. We saw some wonderful views and tropical blue seas. Our campsite is pretty basic, our room has no fan or air con although it has a window which opens!! We went and toured the local supermarkets and bought some pasta for dinner and then headed back to our room. We slolwy dosed off but actually slept for 16 hours!! We were that tired jet lag had taken over§ We woke at 1am but knew we had to sleep some more or the next day wiould be the same.
We woke at 7am and got up to get some cash and alcohol for that evening. We headed to the supermarket and promptly found that the only cashpoint near us did not accept our cards and after deciding to pay for the alcohol on our cards were told no alcohol is served on a Sunday...Gutted!!!
We therefore headed back to our campsite and went to go to our private beach. Then the rain came...I don't think the day could have gotten any worse! We went back to our toom and started to read our books. About 6 or 7 we started to doze and then we slept until 1am again!
We managed to try and sleep a little and I got up about 7 and Lucy and I headed for the local bus to take us to the other side of the island to the " cash machines for us "foreigeners!!"
We now have cash and will get the booze later. The sun is shining, the sea is inviting and it would be rude not to go down there! So I am off for now, those who have txt i'm sorry but I can't reply out here nothing works!! But I can receive them so keep them coming. I will txt back when I can. Still its nice to know you all have been emailing me...Missing me that much!??! Love to you all x x
