It's been a while since I have last updated this so will try and backdate a bit! We sailed the Whitsunday's which was just out of this world - Some of things we saw were breath-taking.
Our boat was called Habibi and there were about 24 of us. The first day we were told that there would be no getting in the water as by the time we reached our first stop it would be too late. Most people took this time to start drinking but Caroline and I decided to wait a bit as we only had goon with us! (For those unaware, Goon is a box of wine that costs about 4pounds but has extracts of fish eyes in it!!)
We got shown to our cabins which were tiny and had no doors on them but I loved it! About 5 hours later we pulled up to our first stop - Whitehaven Beach. It was gorgeous....White sand that went on forever and clear blue water. WOW! It was also completely deserted which made it even more beautiful as it was untouched. This is where we settled down for the night. Eventually the drinking games started, yes there was crossdressing! But it was all in the name of fun.
The next morning the lovely Shane woke us up at 7am! We ate breakfast then were told we had the morning on Whitehaven Beach. We could either swim across or take the little boat. I jumped off the side of the boat and started to swim - Half way across I started getting a bit tired!! Maybe I'd misjudged how far across it was! I looked back and saw the others and my competitiveness side came out - I would be the first on the beach!!! I made it and promptly fell to the sand and downed my water! It was sooooooo hot.
We spent a couple of hours there before heading back to the boat and to our next destination where we would begin snorkelling. The water was just as clear here and we saw so many fishes. At one point we saw a turtle and swam behind it as it slowly glided through the water! The deck hand, Shane, fed the fish at one point and decided to aim the food at me (one bit of food hitting my head!) so all of the fish were around me. My finger got in the way it seemed as it got nipped by the fish!!
We spent a while here before heading off to our last destination. We had time here to either snorkel or go exploring the deserted beach. I got in the water but it was a bit misty and the coral was so close to us. I didn't spend long in the water instead I got a wine and headed to the beach to watch the sunset. At one point when I was on the boat we saw a jumping fihs - We watched it jump all the way into the side of the boat!!
That evening was more relaxed! We sat out on the deck chatiting and watching the stars - I saw my first shooting star so I was very impressed!! A bit later in the evening the fish joined us - There were big fish that looked like sharks and they were eating all of the little fish that were on the surface. Even in the dark you could see them as the water was so clear.
The next morning was another wake up call from Shane at 7am for breakfast. It was a long journey back to Airlie beach and the rain had started. We saw a gorgeous rainbow which was across an island (See photo album).
When we got back we had a few hours to ourselves before a night out with the boat lot. It was a fun evening and good to say goodbye to everyone.
All in all was the best trip ever...The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. Would definitely recommend this boat to others.
