Dad writes:
Well, I hope that yesterday may turn out to represent a bit of a low ebb in the ups and downs of this trip. It certainly wasn't all bad, but honestly I did feel so rough with this cold, and jetlag or something caught up with Chloe so she was virtually out on her feet all day. And it was pouring with rain all day, and Judy was giving us a series of very gloomy bulletins about the state of her mother's health, and, well, everything really.
On the upside, we enjoyed our visit to the Folk Art museum in the morning - full, as Chloe said, of work that looked like Year 7 projects. We quite enjoyed our lunch at Serendipity, although somewhat outfaced by the quantitites and with Chloe in slight danger of falling asleep into her soup bowl except that she didn't have soup or (quite) fall asleep. And in the evening we met up with my work colleague Mark Williamson and his 20-year old daughter Madeleine, who by weird coincidence arrived on a road trip the day before us.
We went to a fearfully expensive steak restaurant and were each served with about half a cow - it would have been better for all concerned, especially cows, if we'd had half as much meat and paid half as much. Still, that's a rather cliched complaint.
And now it's 9 the next morning, it's still raining, I think I feel a bit better but have lost my voice, and we're about to go downstairs for breakfast. After that, I think it's time Chloe wrote something on this.

Mike Like the doll picture Chloe! Hope you guys are enjoying the Apple and bouncing back from Death's door! Sounds like a nasty bug, but still you're there and I'm not! Enjoy it. How long are you there until? Love, Mike
