Up at 8 am to pack and leave. Got packed quickly and had time to thoroughly clean/mop. We tried weighing our luggage on scales they had at the accommodation; this turned into quite the battle with the scales - Ethan thought it was hilarious - we were eventually able to weigh them (on about the 15th attempt).
Left @ 9:30 and went to the Café we went to yesterday (Steam café). The coffee was amazing again, and we tried their fried chicken which was the best I've had.
Then Ethan was the best person in the world; it was amazing (someone got to the laptop…)
Headed off to the airport, 2.5 hr drive, played music; Ethan recorded his own "music" to play… & found the world's worst song to listen to (unfortunately, he was very successful in this endeavour), he had a lot of fun messing around, but eventually Ethan fell asleep. The drive was very scenic, with rolling hills.
Other than stopping to get fuel, we went direct to the airport and dropped off the car. On entering the airport, a large group singing and chanting very loudly - it was quite something.
Walked through the entire Melbourne airport to get to Jetstar check-in, going up a level, then down a level, multiple times… but we got there.
Had fun working with the technology, like a screen on the baggage drop which appeared for a matter of seconds when to press the receipt button but missed it by a second - it turns out it's not required and seems to be displayed as a technicality for a few seconds, and a touch screen when exiting the toilets to record how satisfied you were with them - we questioned the hygiene considerations of having a touch-screen in a bathroom…
Had time to get some lunch at the terminal (Subway & Boost juice) then boarded. We were delayed 15 min as a passenger had checked luggage that didn't board. Then on our way home after 19 days away! All went smoothly (other than having to "battle" with my fellow passenger for the armrest - thanks, Ethan! :)). It also turned out we had a $15 voucher for the plane each for food. I didn't think we did; hence we'd had lunch in the terminal, so Ethan was very happy to be able to purchase Pringles, a drink and lollies with his $15! Getting off the plane and getting our luggage took quite a while, around 45-50 min (and Ethan almost sent his cap for a ride around the conveyor belt after inadvertently dropping it on the carousel).
Nice to be home.
