Started out by sleeping in and taking our time. Watched some videos, showered & a bit of a tidy-up.
Went into town & found a café that rated very well. I had a coffee & Ethan a sausage roll. They were both amazing - possibly the best coffee I've had. Ethan loved the sausage roll - he only planned to have a bit but ended up eating it all.
Then went to play mini golf. Had fun; Ethan loves mini-golf. We came a draw again!
The mini golf also made fresh doughnuts. So we got six jam-filled doughnuts - which were made fresh to order. These were amazing.
We looked at other local options & decided to go to a maze/garden/studio down the road (High Country Gardens, Gallery & Maze). Has been featured on several shows (like Better Homes & Gardens).
The gardens are very impressive, with a lot of hedges; in talking to the owner, apparently, there are 5km of hedges! But he & his partner own & look after the entire facility and do art. They will sell the place as they need to work 7 days per week to maintain it (they can't find gardeners or backpackers to work despite having on-site accommodation for workers).
We made up a game with the draughts pieces - rolling them to a pipe to see who's closest (Ethan won most times).
We had a lot of fun in the maze. There are 16 gnomes to find (+ getting to the centre). We looked/skipped around the maze & managed to find all the gnomes & the centre. We re-did it a second time, and we got to the centre in <3min, but then get out another entry point in <1 min 20 seconds (it took us a lot longer - like 40 min - the first time to get to the centre & find the gnomes).
Ethan got a small pack of lollies for finding all the gnomes.
We had a milkshake/iced coffee in the on-site café, which was cosy & full of art.
Visited the on-site studio, where the owner of the facility & artist was actively painting. The art was very impressive. It is displayed in galleries around the world.
Ethan was keen to walk to the top of a hill, but there wasn't a nearby walk, but we did find a large lake down the road.
Had a lot of fun at the lake. Mucked around on the playground. Did 'ninja' games, swing jumping, etc. found a rock with "Ethan" on it.
Went down to the lake and tried skipping stones. Ethan managed to get a stone to skip 6 times! Made up games & mucked around (somehow, I was "accidentally" hit in the pack of the head several times with sticks…), as well as calling mummy/Makayla.
Drove back to the accommodation and tidied up a bit more. Drove into town to dry some washing & get dinner. Mucked around down the centre strip of town (there is a large strip through town with trees, & party lights).
Back at the accommodation, we watched a few videos & settle down.
While we did a lot, it was a very fun & relaxed last day.
