Started the day off slowly, both quite tired.
Headed off at 8:15 am, stopped to get some fuel, and then went up the mountain. Ended up arriving around 9:40 on the slopes.
There was low visibility in some areas and was good in others, which changed throughout the day.
Did a lot of skiing, and Ethan is doing amazing. Some of the day, Ethan used his ski poles, but he ended up deciding that he preferred not having them.
The main ski lifts were quite busy in the morning, but the lifts around the mountain were all quick to get on. So we got lots of runs in.
Ethan threw a lot of snowballs at me! He can reach down to the ground much easier than me & makes the most of this. He has a certain grin every time…
I insisted we stay to intermediate runs; however, we got caught out when we went down an intermediate run, only to end up at a point where the only way forward was an advanced slope!
The advanced run didn't end up being too bad. Ethan got through it without issue. We actually found it better than some of the intermediate runs, which are very chopped up & have large areas of exposed dirt, some rocks & very "mogully". I did end up falling on the advanced but was stopped at the time! (tripped on my pole).
Ethan did the park run (jumps) a few times.
In tracking speed, generally going up to 40 kmph.
I am very stop/start when going down the slopes (pickup speed but then have to "wash" it off), Whereas Ethan is more consistent in his speed.
Ethan has the Aldi goggles, which have been problematic (lenses keep falling out). But basically, everyone has ski goggles; I chose to bring just sunnies, but after the first half of the day took them off & have found it fine without any goggles/sunnies… So not sure what I'm missing out on… But I find it great without anything. (that said, people do often just have their goggles on their heads).
We stopped at the café (Triol) for hot chocolate & chips. However, the wait for chips was 1hr. So gave this a miss & just had hot chocolate & coffee (which came out quickly). Went back 2hrs later to try our luck at getting chips again. This time it only took a couple of minutes.
Kept skiing until the slopes started to be closed. Headed back (the cue for the shuttle was much better today).
Drive back to our accommodation, dropped some washing off to dry at the Laundromat (went to one, but the only dryer with eftpos was in use, went to the other, but the only 2 working dryers were in use with a cue… So went back to the first & the eftpos machine one had finished so that I could get ours on). The Eftpos machine was confusing to use, so I ended up paying twice… (The start button on the Eftpos machine doesn't actually start the load - or seemingly do anything, a separate button actually starts it).
Picked up some food from IGA for dinner & lunch tomorrow. While waiting for our drying, we decided to count the number of buttons in the car that the driver can use (excluding touch screen, and leavers, which we have no idea what they do) & there are 82 buttons for the driver!
Back to the accommodation to make dinner & settle down for bed.
