Up early (well for holidays… - 8:30) Rachel got a massage - and I went white water rafting. This was fantastic. Ended up with a group of Germans. After a training session, we were sent out (with instructor) - the rapids were grade 5, and involved 3 water fall, one of which is 7 meter's high - apparently the highest commercially rafted waterfall in the world. The whole experience was great, falling off waterfalls, through rapids; surfing rapids (i.e. paddle back up the rapid & get sucked in under it and then spat back out again).
Met Rachel back at the motel, had some lunch - then out Zorbing. Rachel decided against going, and after doing it myself, am glad she didn't - it's a lot harder on the body thanhad expected - but a heap of fun - although made more dangerous by the guy who sent me down forgetting to zip up the entry way - so I nearly fell out a couple of times on the way down. The experience was great - although the service received, while efficient, is very not personal and was by far the worst experience in NZ so far from a staffing perspective - very much feels like you're just another person to take money from.
Next - up to the skyline, a gondola ride (glass capsule cable car) to the top of a mountain, then Lugeing - i.e. going down a few kilometer track on a Luge. This was a lot of fun for me & Rachel hated it - after 1 go she finished. I used up my 5 goes (which take quite some time, given after each run, the chair lift needs to be taken back to the top) while Rachel patiently waited, then, headed back down.
Off to the movies in the evening to see "Marriage retreat" which was interesting… but not as dodgy as I had expected (although had very low expectations based on the previews) and then back to the hotel for dinner.
