No Idea!!!!
Hello all and hope this finds you all well .I have no Idea what I have sent you in the way of photos .I reckon it is going to take the best part of this year to master this part of technology BUT I am trying . So much more has improved in order to survive and keep up .You teachers out there had better not moan to me ever again about the hired help .I am telling you . All here is done by yourself . No secretaries , Technicians .Janitors etc . They are in the building but their job is not to fix the teachers difficulties !!!! There is one secretary who is great . I had to find my own supply teacher and had only filled in the form but not informed the correct person to put it in the PC!!! She was lovely and put me straight .And so it goes on . A learning curve .
Right the diary :
Sat 11 th Oct saw the arrival of my visitors . The Long Island Family and Anne and Ian from Scotland . Great . The weekend was spent catching up and visiting the pumpkin farm Yeh heh Halloween here is BIG and a lot happens on the actual build up to the Big night . Hopefully you can see by the photos .
Then goodbye to the family and Anne and Ian started their sightseeing while I went to WORK .They mastered the bus system and the metro very well . And the best bit for me was that I got my tea made for me everynight .Very nice .
While at work I was sent on an in-service training course to teach sex ed to the grade 7 students . This is done over 5 lessons in one week .All I will say at this time that it was interesting!! Apparently we folk from europe are a wee bit more liberal . Considering I am teaching an awful lot of hot blooded Hispanic students it is going to be challenging to keep me mouth shut .
Having my visitors was great and really good to catch up on all the news.
Another amazing experience ;
After Anne and Ian left I had been invited to go to church with one of the teachers at school . As you know I like to go to church at home and want to visit a few while I am here .So off I went to a lovely Baptist Church in Old Town Alexandria where over 250 of a congregation assembled .Well --Sister Helen was introduced to all.The gospel choir were amazing and the reverend did not mince her words . 2 hours later rather dazed I came out of church and Eva treated me to a fab lunch at the river restaurant.
Halloween continues ;
The following saturday the park next to where I live was the residents party for all . So off Judy my neighbour and I went . The children some adults and even the dogs were in fancy dress .Entertainment was good . Food delicious yes sun was shining .
The cold weather is now beginning to come in and I think we change the clocks a week after you in UK .
Saturday sees the arrival of my sister Christine and my brother -in -law Ian . Great having visitors .
For those of you who were on holiday recently I hope you had a good break .
Keep in touch . Best wishes to you all
Love Helen xxx
