Lovewells vs The World
It's hard to believe that earlier today we were in the air, and earlier still we were in France...we have done so much since then! The flight from Paris was good, Charles de Gaulle is a very small airport for an international, and the security was extreme. You now have to arrive 3 hours ahead of time, making for a long boring wait, but never mind. The flight itself was fine, the service was great, but 3 out of 4 of us got dreadful stomach pain onboard, which made for an uncomfortable journey with little ( or in my case, no) sleep. We arrived early in Singapore, so early in fact that our room wasn't ready, so they decided to upgrade us. We now have a palace! The room is so flash we don't want to leave it! I took the kids up for our first swim in the infinity pool on the 57th floor! Too awesome to be scary. It felt funny to be swimming on the roof at 7.30am, outdoors at 28 degrees, especially after the 6 degrees we had left in Paris. Great fun. Next we headed off to the river safari, another amazing experience, which Glen will tell you about... The river safari was excellent. The zoo was immaculate with a big focus on ecosystems. It Tok you through the worlds 7 major rivers with examples of wildlife from each. We saw lots of new animals such as ant eaters and caymans, tapirs, Jaguars and of course the giant panda. The zoo has the worlds biggest freshwater aquarium and it was massive. Daniel was in his element as he knew about all the different fish etc from his reading. There are some very weird creatures out there, especially in the Asian rivers and flooded Amazon rainforest. As well as seeing the panda Kaikai in his climate controlled bio done ( which was great as he was just chilling out eating bamboo right in front of us ), a highlight was the Amazon river quest. We went in small boats, which were hydraulically lifted up into the river, then let go to plummet down waterfalls. We saw loads of animals sling the river ride, including monkeys, ibis, flamingos and the beautiful Jaguars. It was 31 degrees so some of the animals were hiding away in the shade, but the ride was still amazing, so we did it twice. Glen Later on we had a family swim in the mind blowing pool - even nick and baby jaguar came in - then back to our room for Room service ( in a room like this, why wouldn't you?!?). Then an early night... Everyone had done so well to make it through the day with mucked up time zones and not much sleep, so it was good to know we could enjoy a full nights sleep before another big day tomorrow...

Chris The zoo sounds amazing! Wish I was there with you even though I'd find the rides too scarey!
