All too soon it was time to leave Saariselka. This was one of the hardest things to do. As the daylight came, we walked around the village, just taking it all in. Outside the shops there are dog tie ups and places to park your sleds and skis. The road is constantly driven over by snowploughs, with loaders picking up buckets of snow and moving them into big piles, making new play areas for kids! This morning we got up super early and went down to the toboggan run before breakfast. We didn't want to run out of time before we had to go to the airport. The sled run is 1.2km long! It was pitch dark but they have good lights everywhere so you can see. Besides it is almost always dark in Lapland in December. Mum towed me on my sled for the ten minute walk to the ski area, and dad towed Gemma. When we got there we did lots of sledding, again and again and again...

Here is what each of us took from our search for Santa... Search for Santa day was absolutely amazing. After fuelling up on more breakfast than I thought was possible for one family to consume, we hopped on the bus and headed deeper into the Arctic circle on our mission to find Santa. Hei! That means hello in Finnish. The first activity we got to try was snowmobiles (or jet skis if you are mum...she just can't get that jet skis are for WATER! ) Before we could do any activities we had to get snow suits and boots and massive reindeer leather mittens, so we would all be warm.
