Lovewells vs The World
Today mum had another sciencey surprise for us... In the form of dessert! We went to the a Chocolate Chair in Japantown, where they make ice cream in front of your eyes using liquid nitrogen. That in itself is awesome to watch because the "dry ice" billows out over the mixers and you can catch it and swirl it around. Dad had a chocolate one and it was so creamy and delicious... And filling as there's no air whipped through it. But mum had something else in mind for us kids in this chemistry lesson... Dragons Breath! This dessert is nitrogen frozen cereal balls, and when you crunch them the nitrogen reacts with the air and makes it look like you have steam coming from your nostrils! The science is that nitrogen is condensed into a liquid form that has a very cold temperature. This is used to freeze the cereal, and some is trapped inside the balls, and then it escapes and evaporates into the air when you break the seal on the balls. It was epic! Mum got it to work really well and then we all aced it...it was a bit shocking because it was SOOOOO COLD!!! We all had burnt tongues after, but it was so worth it. If you ever get the chance to try this, you should totally do it.
