Lou in Europe
Hola!
Know I only wrote a few days ago so I'll be quick... still in Portugal but have moved into a much more lively part of the Algarve named Albufeira. Quite a tourist hotspot with great nightlife and very pretty beaches around. It's getting hotter and hotter and at this stage I am getting SCARED for Spain where we have been advised that temps are reaching 47 Celcius. Ewwww.....
Met up with Ella and Sophie's friends Jessica and Rachel who are really lovely and very cool... so nice to have some new but also familiar faces. They also had another one of their friends coming to meet us as well - has been really difficult to meet up with everyone coz the other guys don't have phones so it's really been a case of relying on email and leaving messages at hotels... so much run around but it's been pretty exciting when we have finally got it all together! Met this really nice English guy as soon as we got off the bus, he kind of latched onto us because he didn't really know where he was going.
We got on the bus and ventured into the town not really knowing where we were going or where we were going to stay but luckily on the bus this lady who hardly spoke a word of English came and asked us if we wanted a room. Andrew, the English guy transpired to be a Sports Science and French teacher at college in England so he spoke French to the lady and negotiated a great price for the room for us. So nice!
Andrew hung around with us until he left yesterday and we partied with him - he was lots of fun if a little bit strange! He's probably going to read this in time so I better be nice!! Hahaha - just kidding Monsieur Blake!
Stayed here for the past 3 nights, I have gotten sick again from too many late nights in Greece and one night of partying here, so I have a hideous cough and feel like crap. Trying to lay low.
Went to these beautiful caves in Lagos yesterday just for a day trip - so incredibly amazing just like the postcards. Check out the photos. Got off the train at the wrong stop on the way home and ended up in this dodgy redneck weirdo town where sleazy men hung out the front of this bar drinking, smoking and staring at us. Not cool. Ended up having to get a texi back and the guy then dropped us off at the wrong end of town and we had to get another cab - soooooo gay... but these are the joys of travelling places where you don't have the faintest idea where you are.
Last night the other friend of Jess, Ella, Soph and Rachel got so drunk that he ended up in hospital after being robbed and bashed, or so he thought, he doesn't remember anything and the girls went back to the bar where they were last night, just a few hours ago to ask what happened and apparently he just fell over and cut his lip! Doesn't explain where his stuff is tho! I feel so bad for him coz he lost his camera and phone... you just have to be soooo careful in these places.
Missing home quite a bit at the moment, really miss my cat and my family... I know it's silly but sometimes it can all just get too much and overwhelm you. I think coz I feel like s*** too that it's getting to me. I haven't forgotten how bloody lucky I am to be here tho... I just need to get myself healthy for the rest of it.
Everyone has dropped off the face of the earth with regards to my message board - totally understand that it must be highly infuriating to be receiving these every morning when you get to work! So you're all forgiven. Thinking about you guys all the time tho - pls don't forget that. Love you heaps and will check in from Spain. Leaving Albufeira tomorrow and going to Lisbon via Sagrez which is where there are some surf beaches. Hopefully we going to hire a surf board and try our talents! I'll be sure to post the photos. Big hugs and kisses - especially to my little nephews and my cat
