Finally, arriving in Airlie beach i was very excited about our Whitsunday sailing trips (what i had been looking forward to the most). We spent the evening checking out the local nightlife beofe rising early to start the cruise. Me and clare were on the same boat (the Matador) and we met Mandy that morning.
The next three days were a mixture of sunbathing, sailing, chilling, diving, snorkelling, swimming and of course fantastic views and sunsets. Being the only certified diver on board i dived with the skipper (murray) on the first day which was pretty awesome just because i could do what i want rather than following an instructor like i was used to. the second day i joined in a group dive and we swam through caves, crevasses and the like which ws pretty scray but cool all the same. Typically me i managed to get separated from the group and i got my first sense of feeling traped underwater realising i couldnt see anything but blue everywhere because the visibility was so poor!
Funny enought the next day i decided not to dive but snorkelled instead which was equally as good as we fed the fish and were absolutely surrounded by them weird at first but you got used to it. The second day aswell we stopped off at whitehaven Beach taking in the views by playing frisbee and taking some cool photos. The evenings on the boat were spent laying on board watching stars, chilling, drinking and chatting again more memories for life. On our voyage homeward on the last day i managed to get quite drunk (i dont quite know how) and arriving on dry land was really wierd as not only did it still feel like the floor was moving (as it did for everyone) but my head was spinning as well so the walk back took about double what it should!
That evening the crew arranged for us all to go out for a meal which we did - in style.
Wed 4th July - first chill out day in a while, caught up on internet, shopping, laundry etc and lazed around in sun at the lagoon. We even had a night in and i was so tired i fell asleep fully clothed to wake at 2am and realsie what i'd done! the following morning it was a not such and early rise to catch the Oz bus for the last time! Boo Hoo!
