Round the World with Lou & Jo
We arrived At Jikeleza hostel on the Friday evening after a bumpy ride on the Bazbus. We were greated by a strange old guy who said- 'I would help you with your bags, but I just dont know how u carry them so i won't!'...We knew from this point on the weekend was going to be an interesting one. The hostel later became known as "fawlty Towers'. On the saturday we had a township tour booked- we couldnt wait to get outside of the hostel and sit on the pavement and wait for the bus. There was just the tour of us and a very nice man called Nelson who drove us. We went through the township and saw the corregated iron houses in which the black people lived. We even had a drink at the local pub there. It was fascinating yet overwhelming to see the divide that still exists between the black and white societies. We saw the comparison of the old and new houses which had been built pre and post Mandela and the clear segregation between even the blacks.
Later that afternoon, we went to the Waterfront, had lunch, and saw where the Iron man competition was going to be taking place on the sunday. At this point, we couldnt wait to get back to the hostel to see Bazil again!
We left sunday morning 'sharply' for Coffee Bay.
