This morning we were up bright and early (as usual!) and were surprise how good our bones were feeling after yesterday exertion! We had some toast and jam and left the national park at 9.00am. It was a long-ish drive down to Wellington, we stopped for a coffee and caramel slice in one town and then made a couple of pick ups in a town called 'Bulls' before cruising into the capital at around 2.30pm.
We checked into Base and headed straight out to the Te Papa museum with Alex. We spent a couple of hours at the museum, looking at the wildlife and skeleton (including a massive blue whale) displays and experienced an earthquake before headed into the city. We walked along Cuba Mall in search of an Ice Cream for ages before finally finding a lovely place almost next to our hostel! We enjoyed a cinammon (Laura) and Mixed Berry (Sarah) tub, whilst being join by Jorst, a german guy off our bus. We walked off our ice cream along Oriental Parade, overlooking the beautiful city, harbour and man-made beaches, commenting on how typically english the houses in the area looked. Then we headed back to the hostel for a 'last nights left over pasta' tea (was nicer than it sounds!) and the last pancakes from the mix we had bought (boo!).
